Atlantic Ocean
Episodes 53-56

Ever wonder what the animals we talk about look like, or which episodes cover what animals? Find the answers you seek below! Our episode guides give a brief breakdown of each episode as well as links to the articles we discuss, our sources, and of course, pictures of the animals!

All pictures are either Public Domain or Stock photos unless otherwise noted.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide photos for every animal, especially the more obscure ones, due to not being able to obtain photos which don't violate copyright law. For any animals lacking a photo we remind you that Google is your friend.

Episode 53: Wait, They Live How Long?

Casey kicks off the episode talking about how there was a raccoon in his yard, and Ali gives an honest review of her new San Diego Zoo pass. Casey talks about his jealousy of a man that won the chance to swim with bull sharks at the Oklahoma Aquarium, while Ali brings up an article that discusses how susceptible your cats and dogs are to getting COVID-19. They go on to talk about their Favorite Pelagic Species, the Porbeagle and the Short-Beaked Common Dolphin, before Casey educates us about our fascinating Animal of the Week, the Greenland Shark. The pair conclude the episode with another round of their ‘Cups’ game.

Episode 54: Puffs!

Casey gives us a rundown of what happened over the course of his birthday, and Ali talks about a nerve-racking experience involving fire. Casey informs us about what scientists are doing to help save the Black-Footed Albatross regarding their struggles due to rising sea waters, while Ali talks about how scientists were thrilled to find a rare species of chameleon, the Chapman’s Pygmy Chameleon, in a rainforest in Malawi. They go on to talk about some interesting species of ‘Pufferfish’, the Fahaka Puffer and the Long-Spined Porcupine Fish. Casey keeps to the puff theme and teaches us about the feathery, and cute, Animal of the Week, the Atlantic Puffin, before challenging Ali to another round of their Jeopardy-like game.

Episode 55: Simply Deadly

Casey kicks off the episode by telling us about his experience snorkeling with his sister, and Ali gives us her review of Turner and Hooch along with some other Disney information. Casey brings up some bad news concerning sharks in Florida affected by a ‘toxic red tide’, while Ali highlights another dog breed, the Pharaoh Hound. They go on to talk about their Favorite Fish They’ve Encountered in the Wild, the Leopard Shark and the Great Barracuda. Casey kicks things off talking about watching a meteor shower, and Ali tells us about her time at the San Diego Wild Animal Park (Safari Park) for her birthday. Casey talks about how a conservation group is planning to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service over mishandled manatee protection, while Ali talks about an article covering ‘Murder Hornets’ in Washington state. They then go on to talk about their Favorite Species of Sea Anemone, Losactic Vagabunda and Anthopleura Elegantissima. Casey brings the Atlantic Ocean month to a close by educating us on our toothy Animal of the Week, the Largetooth Sawfish.
