Ever wonder what the animals we talk about look like, or which episodes cover what animals? Find the answers you seek below! Our episode guides give a brief breakdown of each episode as well as links to the articles we discuss, our sources, and of course, pictures of the animals!
All pictures are either Public Domain or Stock photos unless otherwise noted.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide photos for every animal, especially the more obscure ones, due to not being able to obtain photos which don't violate copyright law. For any animals lacking a photo we remind you that Google is your friend.
Episode 1: Coati and the Beasts
Welcome to the Animal Addicts Podcast! Casey and Ali introduce themselves and discuss why they started the podcast and what to expect from it. Casey opens up with information from a talk on tiny critters in our home ecosystems, and Ali addresses Disney+ documentaries and a rating system for the faint of heart. They discuss what kinds of animals they would ride into battle in a torturous war (their Battle Beasts), the Indian Rhino and Giant Eland, and what beasts they would ride as rulers of their kingdom (their Formal Beasts), the African Elephant and the Okapi. Ali then talks about her pet peeve regarding mascots and paw prints. Casey addresses an old wives’ tale dealing with earwigs, and teaches about a South American raccoon-like animal, the Coatimundi. They wrap up the first episode with a challenge alternating back and forth having to name an animal for every letter of the alphabet.

Episode 2: For the Birds
Casey talks about his experience at the world famous San Diego Zoo and discusses some signs about Teddy Grahams, while Ali discusses some animal related Disney movies. Casey presents his first biology lesson regarding classifying animals, and Ali brings some attention to a previously mentioned dog breed with a name that’s very difficult to pronounce, the Xoloitzcuintli. Casey and Ali discuss their favorite Birds of Prey Species, the Harpy Eagle and the Secretary Bird, before discussing a much gentler feathered Animal of the Week, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. Casey concludes the episode by challenging Ali to his ‘Leo’ Trivia Challenge.

Episode 3: Bad Reputation
Casey kicks things off by discussing some of the shows from this year’s Shark Week on Discovery, while Ali reminisces about missing petting people’s dogs, and how they miss it too. Casey then rants about his pet peeve regarding the over dramatization of shark attacks before they appropriately segue into a discussion of their Favorite Shark Species, the Great Hammerhead and the Whale Shark. Casey teaches about the poorly named Animal of the Week, the Maned Wolf, before Ali gets payback for the last episode by challenging Casey with a quiz on dog breeds.

Episode 4: Fangs and Falsehoods
Casey kicks off the episode discussing a snorkeling trip that didn’t pan out and previous oceanic troubles, while Ali talks about Dungeons and Dragons, and the animals within it. They then get into a discussion about how horrible people can be in some Facebook groups (yes the app for old people), before Casey addresses another myth, this time regarding rattlesnakes. The pair then pull a complete 180 and discuss their favorite Species of Monkey, the Gelada and the Black and White Colobus Monkey. Being the reptile lover that he is, Casey brings the conversation back to reptiles with their slithery Animal of the Week, the Green Anaconda. Casey and Ali conclude the episode by playing a guessing game about animals in a Taboo-like manner.
